the evil we love; a review

The Evil We Love, by Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman

The Evil We Love, by Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman

Book 60 of 2015

I found book five, The Evil We Love, one of the best and most interesting novellas in The Tales From Shadowhunter Academy series so far. The Evil We Love tackles the past yet again, but readers also get a taste of Isabelle and Robert Lightwood visiting the Academy to teach the students about Valentine, his Circle, the rise of evil, and how it easy it is for people to be persuaded.

This novella gives The Mortal Instruments fans a more detailed account of how the Circle was formed, and who its original members were and how they interacted with Valentine. Author Cassandra Clare covers Robert Lightwood’s account, and it is easy to see how charming and persuasive Valentine could be.  Clare clearly wanted readers to draw parallels with today’s society and wars, which is what Simon does when the students are put to a final test.

Looking forward to book 6 in the series!
