the fiery trial; a review

The Fiery Trial, by Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson

The Fiery Trial, by Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson

Book 14 of 2016

I’m getting closer and closer to the end of the Shadowhunter Academy novellas, and The Fiery Trial was one of my favourite books in the series. In this story, Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn become parabatai. Emma has asked Clary and Simon to be their witnesses, and now it is time for the two best friends to see what it means to become linked in such a way as they watch the ceremony unfold. This story also helps prepare readers for The Dark Artifices series, by shedding a bit more light onto Emma and Julian’s relationship and personal lives.

As far as Clary and Simon go, however, they are summoned into a room before the ceremony takes place, Magnus Bane leading the charge. Simon and Clary’s own friendship and potential parabatai bond is put in danger through a series of tests and it is up to both of them, independently, to make it out okay.

This story got me excited for Lady Midnight; I cant wait to continue with all of The Mortal Instruments characters in a new series!
