It was another incredible Grey Goose event at Soho House Toronto.
As the summer was winding down, Whitney and I were thrilled to work with Katie at Soho House Toronto once again and throw a unique Grey Goose Summer Soiree, this time with inimitable Toronto Chef, Doug Penfold. Katie, Whitney and I were decided to throw an intimate event, and this time we wanted to focus on pairing Grey Goose cocktails with fine French cuisine, inspired once again by our time in France. We thought it would be fun to bring in a guest chef, and living in the foodie-centric city we do, we didn’t have to look far.
Chef Penfold is the co-owner and Chef of Atlas (Moroccan cuisine), Cava (Spanish cuisine) and French restaurant Chabrol, all located in Toronto. Chabrol, named after the last bit of soup to which a splash of wine is added, then sipped— serves the inspiring cuisine we wanted our dinner to be modeled after.
Whitney had been to Chabrol before and knew its south-of-France-inspired dishes were unparalleled, so Katie quickly called Chef Penfold to see if he was up for our event. He was, and we couldn’t be happier with how the evening turned out.
I have included the divine dinner menu and Grey Goose pairings below, along with some gorgeous pictures taken over the course of the evening by the talented Ace Hicks. We weren’t aware of the menu items and pairings beforehand and were so pleased at the authenticity, thoughtfulness and creativity that Chef put each and every dish and pairing. This menu had each of us dive outside our comfort zones and enjoy a truly authentic, beautifully executed meal and delightful, flavorful cocktails. Take a look at the menu, and see if there is anything you’d like to try that you haven’t before. Regardless, we definitely recommend heading to one of Chef Penfold’s long-standing restaurants and enjoying whatever you select from his menu; you won’t be disappointed.
